I’m so happy to finally introduce this crochet dress pattern for toddlers. It’s definitely been one of my longest projects. Not because of the dress itself but because I started making the pattern when I was still living in Thailand with my family and finished it when we had already moved back to Europe so the moving really slowed down the process a lot. It was originally created for my youngest daughter and hopefully you’ll enjoy making it as much as I did 🙂

MATERIALS:
* about 625 meters of Sport weight yarn (I used Scheepjes “Catona”). You can find a wide selection of Sport weight yarns at LoveKnitting.
* about half a skein of Sport weight yarn in contrasting color
* 3.5mm size crochet hook
* stitch marker
STITCH EXPLANATIONS:
* Slip stitch (sl st)
* Chain (ch)
* Stitch (st), stitches (sts)
* Single Crochet (sc)
* Half Double Crochet (hdc)
* Double Crochet (dc)
To begin ch 90 and sl st into the first ch to create a loop.
Row 1: without chaining hdc across the row. (90 hdc)
Row 2: without joining and chaining, you will continue in a spiral way, you will continue in this manner throughout the pattern. Also please note that on each row you will be crocheting into the third loops only from now on. Third loop is the loop behind the back loop.
*18 hdc, hdc 2 into the next st*, repeat ** across the row, hdc 14 to the end of the row. (94 hdc)
Row 3: hdc across.
Row 4: *18 hdc, hdc 2 into the next st*, repeat ** across the row, hdc 18 to the end of the row. (98 hdc)
Row 5: hdc across.
Row 6: *18 hdc, hdc 2 into the next st*, repeat ** across the row, hdc 3 to the end of the row. (103 hdc)
Row 7: hdc across.
Row 8: *18 hdc, hdc 2 into the next st*, repeat ** across the row, hdc 8 to the end of the row. (108 hdc)
Row 9: hdc across.
Row 10: 16 hdc, skip next 20 sts and place a stitch marker onto the 21st stitch, ch 25, hdc into the marked 21st stitch, 32 hdc, skip next 20 sts and place a stitch marker onto the 21st stitch, ch 25, hdc into the marked 21st stitch, hdc to the end of the row.
Row 11-48: hdc across. (118 hdc)
Row 49: *10 hdc, hdc 2 into the next st*, repeat ** across the row, hdc 8 to the end of the row. (128 hdc)
Row 50: hdc across.
Row 51: *10 hdc, hdc 2 into the next st*, repeat ** across the row, hdc 7 to the end of the row.
Row 52: hdc across.
Row 53: *10 hdc, hdc 2 into the next st*, repeat ** across the row, hdc 7 to the end of the row.
Row 54: hdc across.
Row 55: *10 hdc, hdc 2 into the next st* repeat ** across the row, hdc 8 to the end of the row.
Row 56: hdc across.
Row 57: *10 hdc, hdc 2 into the next st* repeat ** across the row, hdc 10 to the end of the row.
Row 58-87: hdc across.
Row 88: change yarn to contrasting color (optional) and hdc across.
Row 89: dc 2 in each st across. Please note that here you don’t have to crochet into the third loops anymore. At the end of the row sl st into the first st and fasten off the yarn.
Next sc across the armholes with contrasting colored yarn (optional).
NECKLINE:
Row 1: With contrasting colored yarn (optional) sc across.
Row 2: dc 2 in each st across, at the end of the row sl st into the first st and fasten off the yarn.
